Asking this question is your way of getting additional information about the job description. It not only gives you a clear picture of what is expected in the role, but also helps you decide if that is the right job for you.
2. What expectations do you have of this role in 3 months, 6 months, a year?
Knowing what your employer expects of you provides you with the blueprint to setting goals and improving your skills.
3. What is the most important quality for a person in the role?
A panel of interviewers will provide you with different qualities which they each think is the most important for the role. It also gives you insight on what virtues the company places most emphasis on.
4. Who will I be working with in this role?
Note, this question is phrased in a manner that suggests you have already gotten the job. Interviewers love this as it presents you as an results-driven person.
5. What values drive the company?
This question presents the opportunity for you to learn more about the company’s culture. It also mentally prepares you to make any adjustments to your own habits to better suit you for the role.
6. Does your company offer opportunities for career/ professional development?
You want to know if there is room for growth in the firm. Employers seek to recruit individuals with a vision for growth, just as the company.
7. What has been the most challenging aspect of the role?
Asking for a job means taking responsibility and working towards solving current problems in the organization. You want to get a clear picture of the problems you are going to tackle.
8. What opportunities have you identified in the department or company?
This is a must-ask question if you aim at getting promoted within the first 2 – 3 years in the company. It shows that you are swift in seizing opportunities both for yourself and for the company.
9. Who, in your opinion, is your greatest competitor?
Knowing your employer’s opinion on their competitor gives you an idea of what they want to beat them in. You can use this to your advantage should you get the role.
10. What career paths are available for a person in this role?
This is a question for fresh graduates and junior professionals. Your interviewer’s answer will guide you in knowing the different specializations that the organization recognizes.
