“Tell me something about yourself.” These simple words have many tongue-tied in front of the interview panels. For some, the most viable answers will be our name, age, and residence. Is it the right response? Are you making a fool out of yourself? Here are four things that your recruiter wants to know about you.

1.    Personality

How do you describe yourself? Talk about who you are and what you do. Talk about things that make up your character. It is crucial that you avoid too much information that can derail the panel. Mention things that make you who you and how you relate with your co-workers.

2.    Practice

Talk about your areas of practice. For instance, mention that for the two years you worked at Google, take the team through a brief description of what roles you undertook. That way they will know what areas in your career you have work experience. Note that each practice you account for must take into consideration the skill set that the hiring team is looking for.

3.    Achievements

Mention what you have accomplished so far. If you are a teacher, make sure that you mention how you impacted changes on your learners. It is important to get facts about the accomplishments you say. State for instance that you improved the standard mean score from D- to C- on your teaching subject.

4.    Skills

What other considerable skills do you possess? How would they be beneficial to the employer? As a job seeker, think about some simple skills you have that can be relevant for the job. That can be a deal breaker when hiring a new employee. Take your time and mention the skills that can help address a concern that the panel has raised as the basis for the position.

A skillful answer will definitely make you stand out in the crowd.
