Interviews come in all shapes and sizes and to be on the safe side, you should go prepared for anything. To make sure you don’t bring a knife to a gunfight we’ll share with you the different types of interviews you need to know and show you how to nail them. Let’s get you ready for it!

Phone interviews

Interviewers use phone interviews as a first round to screen candidates and determine who qualifies to come in for an in-person interview. You need to be prepared always since some interviewers will call unexpectedly. If it happens, you can politely request to schedule an appointment and have the call when you are in a quiet space.

Group interviews

You might be invited for a group interview when a company is seeking to hire multiple people for the same role. The interviewers will be keen on seeing how you interact with and engage with other candidates when doing tasks. Be sure to show your leadership skills to stand out.

Traditional job interviews

Most people prepare only for this it being the most common type of job interview. In this case, you will have a one on one interview a company representative who will probably be the manager you will be working under if you get the job. Interview questions used will be to understand who are as an individual and if your skills match those of the job requirements.

Lunch or dinner interviews

This happens in cases where there are series of interviews. If you made it to this stage, it’s a good sign! The interviewer wants to know you better and whether you will be a good fit by evaluating your social skills. He/ she might, therefore, tag along with some team members. Take that opportunity to ask as many questions as you can about the company and how your role fits in. if the knife and fork isn’t your thing, order something simple that you will be comfortable having.

Working or testing interviews

In some cases, you will need to prove that you can do something other than just saying it. For example, writing jobs. Problem-solving interviews involve being given exercises to demonstrate your analytical and creative skills. Remember to stay relaxed and have your thoughts in one place.

Now you know what to prepare for. All the best.
