After attending the Skills2Grow training at Yusudi, I got the opportunity to be part of one of the leading companies. I don't think this would have been possible if I would have continued looking for employment on my own.
My job search was low key discouraging, I had applied for jobs close to 3 years without any positive feedback. It reached a point where I was almost giving up and that's when a friend recommended Fuzu. The first opportunity I saw upon registering on Fuzu was Yusudi’s Skills2Grow Career Start Accelerator. I got interested and applied to join the program and that was the start of a fulfilling journey to where I am presently.
The program challenged me to think outside the box. I learnt the need to have an open mind in day to day activities, the importance of having emotional intelligence when facing challenges or interacting with people, the advantages of being proactive in my responsibilities and the beauty of loving what I do and doing it at my uttermost best. This brings a very fulfilling feeling knowing that I have done what I wanted to do and set out to accomplish it to the fullest.
The Skills2Grow Program has played a big role in my professional life. I left the program a different person - I gained confidence like I never had before, especially when facing a panel or individual during an interview.
After the training, I was placed at Crown Healthcare for paid internship, a premier solutions provider for Medical Equipment and Supplies in the region. Like I mentioned earlier, I had been looking for a job for almost three years without success. But after attending the Skills2Grow training at Yusudi, I got the opportunity to be part of one of the leading companies. I don't think this would have been possible if I would have continued looking for employment on my own.
Getting an internship opportunity at Crown Healthcare opened a whole lot of opportunities. I was gaining experience as an intern and there was the possibility of getting employed as a permanent employee, and it happened! I put into practice all that I learned during training and with that I moved from being an Intern to a Sales Coordinator to a Regional Sales Representative covering 6 counties in Kenya namely Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, Trans Nzoia, Nandi and Bungoma in a period of 10 months.
My post-internship experience has been fulfilling. I get to learn new things and face new challenges everyday. These experiences have enabled me to grow at a professional and personal level. All this I would say thanks to Yusudi for the Skills2Grow program that prepares the youth professionally and helps them get employment.
