Not so long ago, Neema Ndirangu gave us a reason to celebrate when she landed a job at Apollo Agriculture. The Advertising and Public Relations graduate shared with us her job search experience. Read on to find out how she was able to beat her competition.
My name is Neema Ndirangu. I love cooking, watching movies and networking. I am a Telesales agent at Apollo Agriculture. Apollo Agriculture is a team of specialists who help African farmers increase their production by offering credit, high quality farm inputs and customized advice. My role entails diligently handling customers’ inquiries via telephone, providing existing and prospective client with product and service information by clearly explaining procedures, answering questions and providing information in accordance to the company’s policies and procedures.
I discovered Fuzu about one year ago and it has helped me grow diversely in regard to career development. I applied for several jobs and even though it took time, it was worth the wait because I finally got hired. I did tests when applying for jobs and I must say that they were quite interesting because I realized my areas of competence and professional skills. There are also wonderful articles on their site and online courses. There’s also a wide variety of legit opportunities posted on their jobs portal.
After getting hired, my greatest challenge was adjusting to my new workplace. Being in a new work environment sort of makes you freak out, but I was able to overcome that and jelled well with my colleagues. It has been such a lovely experience working at Apollo Agriculture.
The most important lesson that I learned during my job search was the importance of customizing my CV and cover letter for every job that I applied for. Highlighting strengths and experiences to match what an employer is looking for can prove to be challenging. However, Fuzu provides guidance and a platform where one’s CV and cover letter are well updated and all relevant information is well captured, which is a plus for job seekers.
I’ve also come to appreciate the fact that there’s always a particular job that suits one’s strengths and abilities; you don’t have to apply for every other job. While job searching, focus on your career development and professional growth as opposed to money.
I would definitely recommend Fuzu to my peers because it is easy to use, gives personalized job recommendations and it reminds you when a vacancy is almost closing so that you are not left out.
