Job hunting is a job in itself. You continually send your resume and let your contacts know you are looking for a job, hoping that someday you will get a call that you have been shortlisted for an interview. Still, this year has brought about its own challenges which makes it even harder for both employers and the unemployed. Even though hiring might have slowed down, some companies are still looking for great talent. If you have just began or have been job hunting during this pandemic, chances are, things haven't been that easy. So one question remains, how can you keep your job search active?
Research
While job hunting, you shouldn’t just send your CV blindly. Do the necessary intensive research in advance on which industries are hiring. These include tech, online tutoring as well as delivery services, it will give you an idea of which type of employers are hiring both locally and internationally.
Expand your focus
Don’t just specialize on specific jobs and titles. Be keen on your acquired skills and what the companies are asking for. This is because you may need to pivot to different types of positions that make use of your skills or work experience. Have an open mind and look for remote working jobs in the local and international market.
Leverage your time
You have probably heard time and again that time is money. Well, it is. Depending on how you spend it. Using time in an intelligent way to pursue your goals is what leveraging time means. Looking at your resume, what skills have you gained so far during this pandemic? This is a question employers will ask you so ensure you have the right and positive answer. You can attend massive open online courses (MOOCs) being offered in edX, Coursera and Alison just to mention a few. This will give you an added advantage when job hunting.
