Do you really know your worth in the marketplace as a professional?

In a perfect world, every job advertisement would include the salary range. However, companies will keep such information on the hush to let job seekers ‘bid’ for themselves. But do you really know your worth in the marketplace as a professional?

We were curious to find out what some of our users base their value on when negotiating for salaries. Here are some of the responses that we got: 

Kiiza David - Finance. 

Years of experience - 2 years

Current 700,000UGX - Expected 700,000 and above

I would like an amount that will keep me motivated to work if am able to manage majority of my costs.

Prefered Industries - Interfreight and logistics, Banking, Accounting and Auditing

Calvince -Banking & Finance

Years of experience - 1 year

Current KES 25,000- Expected 25,000-30,000

Because of the current economic situation in kenya and my current  level of education.

Prefered Industry - Credit/ Sacco /Baking.

Steicy -Insurance 

Years of experience - 1 year

Current salary - 50,000 Expected - KES 100,000

The economy of the country  and also the nature of work that I do.

Polycarp - Medical representative

Years of experience - 3 years

Current KES 85,000 - Expected 85,000 and above.

That's not much comparative to the nature of my roles.

Prefered industry - Medical

Faith- Medical Laboratory Technologist 

Years of experience - 3 years

Current - 40,000 - Expected 55,000 and above

I believe that my work experience and professional together with all the skilled acquired have made me earn so. 

Prefered industry - Medical 

Edina - Research, Quality Management and Customer Service

Years of experience - 3 years

Current KES 35000ksh - Expected  40,000 -50,000

To cater for my bills and because I normally give my all when at work.

Prefered industry - Food manufacturing Industry and Communication

Mercelyn - Marketing 

Years of experience - 0 

Expected salary - 15,000

Because I know as a marketer I'll do a great job and my employer will get many customers and an increase in sales. 

Prefered Industry - Real Estate 

Jacinta - Administration and Assurance

Years of experience - 4 years

Current UGX 800,000 - Expected - 1,500,000 to 2,500,000

I would want to earn this much because I give my all to what am doing and I pride myself on goal orientation and achieving results and the general performance of the company while challenging myself to be the best version of myself at work.

Prefered industry - Finance

Samuel - Electrician 

Years of experience - 2 years

Current KES.25,000 - Expected - 30,000

According to the growth of economy  in our country and being ready to deliver my best to the respective organisation i will be absorbed. 

Prefered industry - Engineering

Victoria - IT

Years of experience - 2 years

Current KES 100,000 - Expected - 204,000

I have the experience and dedication needed to execute any job I am assigned to within my capacity . It is the figure I have put down to cover all my basic needs as well as employee motivation. 

Prefered industry - Technology

Bosire -  Human Resource

Years of experience - 5 years

Current Kshs.25,000 Expected Kshs.28,000-35,000.

High living standards and the ever growing family responsibility.

Prefered industry - Manufacturing Industry
