About
The Adelle Onyango Initiative (AOI) is an advocacy organization that works to educate the public on issues facing vulnerable populations; specifically, women and youth, while also providing solutions for reducing the barriers to empowerment and economic inclusion so that women and youth can thrive. Under the Initiative are over 3,800 registered members (TeamADELLE) who are beneficiaries of the job shadow programs and mentorship opportunities that the Initiative facilitates through its partners. The Initiative was founded by Adelle Onyango, a Kenyan public figure who has been recognized for her efforts to empower Kenyan women and youth. Adelle was named as one of OkayAfrica’s 100 extraordinary African women for 2018; as well as one of BBC's 100 inspirational and innovative women in the world for 2017. Adelle also served on the Youth Advisory Board for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s second annual Goalkeeper’s conference and represented Kenya at the 2017 Children's Global Media Summit, where she chaired and moderated sessions on youth and cyberbullying.
