Arable International seeks to improve the lives of rural farmers by investing in their farms and transforming them from being subsistence to an enterprise. We invest in the growth of agricultural enterprises so they can transform rural communities. We particularly tackle food insecurity (through sustainable food production and increasing farm productivity), climate change (through resilient farming practices and conservation of natural resources) and reduction in poverty index by transforming farms into productive and income-generating units. We work with a “one-farmer-at-a-time” model where a farmer is identified, a formal partnership is created where we work with the farmer in redesigning and managing his/her farm, incorporating technologies such as installing greenhouses, solar units, biogas plants, irrigation systems in order to increase its productivity. This partnership will be maintained until the farmer can manage all the technologies and has acquired the necessary skills. The company gets its returns from the sales of fresh or processed farm produce, similar to shareholding. The percentage of shareholding will be determined by the amount of initial investment involved.
