There is something out there for each and every one of us. You simply have to find your perfect fit.

From the second a child is born, their path is pretty much clear (usually depending on the class of income they are born into). Go to primary school, pass and go to secondary school, pass and go to university/tertiary school, pass and get a job. This sounds like a good plan, except that there isn’t a lot of preparation put into helping you choose the right job.

It is therefore easy to wonder, does job suitability matter if you are getting your pay cheque at the end of the month?

One of the things that is almost as popular as New Year Resolutions at the beginning of the year, is whether public holidays in the year fall on weekdays. We are past halfway into April, and I am sure you can already smell the excitement of Labour Day falling on a weekday, all the way from there.

This sentiment raises a few questions.

Is it wrong to look forward to a public holiday? The answer is no. Would you be devastated if a public holiday was cancelled? If the answer is yes, then you need to think long and hard about whether you are in the right job.

Taking breaks off work is good, and it is for this reason that most jobs come with leave days. Suffice to say, you have an adequate amount of time to relax, reflect and take off time from work so as to avoid burnout. If in spite of this, you suffer from continuous burnout, then you really need to reassess the job you have, and your suitability for it.

Is there a way to do this, you ask? Yes, there is. A personality test is one of the ways to discover yourself, and your suitability for not only jobs you are interested in, but also for jobs you should be targeting. When it is all said and done, there is something out there for each and every one of us. You simply have to find your perfect fit.

And then you can begin to truly enjoy your job, as you should.
