Qualifications

  • Must have experience working with EV Batteries or has a working knowledge of Lithium-Ion batteries, Battery Form Factor, Battery Management Systems and CAN Communication.
  • Must have experience in late-stage product development and  production scale up support,
  • Must have a degree in Electricals and Electronics/ Mechatronic or any other relevant degree
  • Must have at least 3 years relevant experience working with batteries
  • Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in battery technology.
  • Must have skills in the use of general routine electrical laboratory equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of CAN communication or other relevant automotive standards.
  • Basic knowledge of electric vehicle performance dynamics and principles such as torque, speed, propulsion forces, weight and their relevance and implications to battery design.
  • Standard skills in Computer Aided Design for basic circuit design, basic simulations and/or basic part modeling.
  • Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on engineering research and test data and findings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to design, organise, and coordinate engineering tasks and projects.
  • Ability to conduct systematic analysis and develop solutions to engineering problems.
  • Knowledge of engineering and/or scientific research principles, practices, and protocols.
  • Knowledge of engineering/scientific experiments, tests, and data collection protocols

  • Continuous optimization of the features and form factor of battery packs and its components including cells, BMS, connectors, handles, display ports and casing materials to meet better vehicle performance, weight reduction and ergonomics of battery removal and swapping for electric motorbikes and ease of assembly for Transit and Utility EVs.
  • Design and optimization of BMS communication protocols and its integration with existing powertrains and charging stations for electric motorbikes and transit.
  • Research and test different cell chemistries with evolving EV industry trends to introduce improved battery solutions to Roam EV product lines.
  • Research on advanced charging systems improved charging time, safety and efficiency.
  • Research on advancement of technologies in battery management systems for improved battery protection functions and battery data access and analysis.
  • Source and test battery tracking feature for electric motorbike batteries.
  • Work with suppliers to review specifications, data sheets, quotations and production schedules of proposed battery solutions and facilitate their PPAP process.
  • Work with Roam’s partnering third party lab testing facilities in China to develop battery test plans, review test results and develop test reports and submit to the Battery Manager.
  • Work with Roam’s consultants in China to facilitate supplier validation through visits and audits of supplier factories, quality control processes (IQC and OQC) and ISO /IEC working standards.
  • Work with the Roam Quality Department to develop efficient processes for performing in coming quality inspections on inbound batteries.
  • Develop battery handling standards and procedures and manage the storage and tracking of all batteries and charging units.
  • Facilitate the implementation of a better equipped battery lab by sourcing industry standard testing equipment and protective gear, designing safety features and training relevant personnel handling any battery testing.
  • Develop a remote monitoring and diagnostics system and work with Roam Aftersales Team to pre-empt and identify battery faults as well as perform root cause analysis and analyse test data to inform cause of failure.
