Job Summary

Latitude Trade Company is a rapidly growing business with the mission of sustainably increasing incomes and reducing risk for small farm businesses in East Africa. Our strategy is to disrupt smallholder farmer value-chains through quality improvement, supply-chain collaboration and value addition. With offices in Western Uganda, the company partners with smallholder farmers to buy, process and trade ethically-sourced specialty agricultural products. Our specialty cocoa beans are used by bean-to-bar chocolate makers throughout the world, and our own craft chocolate is sold in stores domestically. Our aim is to provide specialty buyers with a transparent, sustainable and fair supply chain options. Our team is young, excited and unequivocally devoted to the mission.

The Accounts Assitant will report directly to the Manager in Kampala and serve as the coordinator of finance, cash and accounts for the company across chocolate operations and products in Kampala. This includes the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage cashiers, store managers and procurement officers
  • Audit inventory and production records 
  • Manage company documentation, including expense receipts, delivery documentation, employee contracts, etc. with assistance from the cashiers 
  • Review and submit weekly account reports on stock and finance 
  • Oversee logistics of fulfilling sales and delivery contracts 
  • Coordinate banking, payroll, and routine taxes (PAYE, VAT, and NSSF) in coordination with counterparts in Bundibugyo 
  • Coordinate routine audit of accounts and submission of tax returns 
  • File invoices and follow-up with customers on receivables 
  • Develop financial projection models and grant proposals Coordinate fulfillment of any requirements for financiers or donors 
Requried Experience 
  • Fluent English 
  • 2-3 years of experience as an accountant in Ugandan registered company 
  • Degree in relevant Account or Finance field, CPA or ACA preferred 
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office and Quickbooks (required) 
  • Good communication skills via email, phone, and report writing

Job Requirements

Required education: Bachelor's degree
Required relevant work experience: 3 years
Required languages: English (Spoken: fluent | Written: fluent)
