Job Summary

To provide financial support to various aspects in the accounts department, the accounts officer is generally responsible for disbursing cash payments and maintaining the short term personnel payroll, in line with organizational SOPs and Policies.

Responsibilities

• Preparing monthly project reports and sharing the same with the budget holders by the 10th working day of the new month;

• Work hand in hand with the Senior Accountant to respond to raised queries by budget holders;

• Obtain monthly Excel VAT refund workings from URA and follow-up on suppliers whose VAT was rejected;

• Prepare monthly VAT follow-up status, advise Senior Accountant on any Suppliers to be black listed;

• Maintain a good and close working relationship with URA; with periodic follow-up visits to URA;

• Maintain a listing of all the Unit’s Sub-Awardees, each with awarded budget, and any balances of funds not transferred;

• Review and enter in MSD all Sub award accountabilities; including preparing a monthly ageing report for Sub-Awards;

• Run the Navision system for project Mileages, check for any errors, before entering information in MSD for posting;

• Work hand in hand with the Estates department and Bio-repository department; to obtain expenses for recharging to projects by the 23rd of every month;

• Assist with month end closure activities;

• Provide supporting documentation for audits; and,

• Any other duties that may arise as delegated by the Senior Accountant and or Finance Manager.
