Job Summary

To work as part of a scientific team carrying out a wide variety of Basic Science ancillary laboratory tasks and research experiments according to SOPs. They also provide all the required technical support to enable the laboratory function effectively while adhering to SOPs and health and safety guidelines.

  1. Receiving, processing and storing study samples according to SOPs so as to maximise their quality in subsequent testing
  2. Performing SOP-guided laboratory experiments in order to produce reliable and precise data for scientific investigations: ELISpot, flow cytometry, Neutralisation assays, PCR, sequencing among others
  3. Implementing GCLP practices: Cleaning and disinfecting equipment; Tracking equipment servicing requirements; Monitoring temperatures and liquid nitrogen levels; Data backup; Running equipment performance QCs
  4. Ensuring that required reagents and supplies are in sufficient stocks and are kept securely in recommended conditions
  5. Performing IATA compliant shipment of samples to and from partner laboratories
  6. Ensuring health and safety according to SOPs
