Job Summary

To ensure and maintain a healthy, safe, Secure and working environment, in compliance with the relevant industry regulatory and legislative requirements, company procedures, regulatory authorities and requirement of the customer airlines .To ensure that all baggage being loaded into the aircraft are authorized to ensure 100% accountability and reconciliation of customers and their baggage in line with regulatory and company security policy.


Responsibilities

  • Embrace and maintain a positive safety culture, healthy and secure working environment in compliance with company procedures, regulatory authorities and requirements of customer airlines.
  • Identify and report hazards, near misses, incidents and accidents.
  • Ensure 100% accurate reconciliation and accountability of passengers’ baggage.
  • Inform Passenger Services transfer unit / Gate of identified unauthorized baggage.
  • Control and authorize bags to be loaded in the aircraft.
  • Liaise with and alert load control and passenger services of any bags yet to be Authorized for loading
  • Liaise with and alert load control and passenger services of any bags yet to be seen for loading.
  • Timely verification and accounting for baggage offloaded and loaded at the Nairobi Hub.
  • Promptly send messages for baggage discrepancies to relevant recipients: at least originating station and destination.
  • Monitor transfer of baggage from inbound to outbound and alert Loading Supervisor to avoid mis-connection of bags.
  • Ensure that any information on unauthorized bags is passed on to the Loading Supervisor / Duty Baggage Supervisor for their immediate action
  • Monitor and ensure that loading in all flights is closed timely to ensure on time departure of the aircraft.
  • Compile and distribute post flight and daily baggage report on flights handled.
  • Adhere to KQ WAY principals and best practices.
