Job Summary

One of the leading pathology practices operating in Kenya with branches in various parts of the country and in the process of expanding their geographical footprint, is looking to recruit an ambitious and energetic Business Development Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for growing the client base across East and Central Africa. He or she Must have at least 10 years’ experience as a Business Development Manager. Candidates with prior working experience as a Business Development Manager in a Laboratory Facility will have an added advantage.
  • Bachelor’s degree (an MBA in business administration, sales or relevant field is an advantage)
  • MUST have more than 8 years of proven working experience as a business development manager or relevant role.
  • Excellent Project management skills and ability to connect with internal stakeholders & external customers.
  • Candidates with prior experience in a Business Development in a Laboratory Facility will have an added advantage.
  • Must have impeccable communication skills.
  • MUST have a proven record of meeting targets.


  • Develop and execute a growth strategy underpinned by both revenue and customer satisfaction objectives.
  • Develop quarterly, half-yearly and annual sales forecasts/budgets.
  • Market research to identify new markets and customer needs.
  • Planning and overseeing of new marketing initiatives.
  • Work to increase the value of and for current customers.
  • Conduct customer briefings, attend customer events and represent the company with integrity and passion.
  • Develop pitch books and proposals for new client meetings.
  • Develop quotations and sales contracts ensuring adherence to established rules and guidelines.
  • Prepare a monthly report on the competitive landscape and trends within the industry.
  • Prepare a monthly ‘deal’ report capturing potential leads and ongoing new client discussions.
  • Develop entry-level staff into valuable salespeople.
  • Perform other job-related duties and training as requested by customers and/or management.
  • Remain engaged in ongoing projects to help ensure that deliverables, timelines, quality standards, and customer experience meet or exceed expectations.
  • Attend trade shows, seminars, and other industry events, while actively engaging with those participants in order to represent company business interests and increase brand awareness.
