Job Summary


ACCESS AFYA is a social enterprise that delivers primary health care in the poorest communities in Kenya. We take a chain of low-cost micro-clinics as anchors to our model, with a mobile field health team that reaches people in the places where they already spend their time - such as schools and factories.
We are currently inviting applications for a Pharmaceutical Technologist with an entrepreneurial drive to work in operationalizing the Curafa points of care centers as profitable business ventures with an opportunity of owning the business in the long run. Merck intends to pilot under the trademark “CURAFA” various healthcare platforms in Kenya which aim to:
(i) Provide quality-assured medicines at affordable prices,
(ii) Provide well trained pharmaceutical technologists, nurses and/or clinical officers providing education and awareness around prevention, diagnosis and treatment,
(iii) Provide digital healthcare solutions for education, awareness, diagnosis and disease prevention,
(iv) Provide insurance and financing schemes, to aid in the provision of healthcare to patients, and
(v) Explore solar powered energy supply for Wi-Fi, cell-phones charging, and temperature control
This business venture will be based in Limuru.

Responsibilities

  • The healthcare platforms – Points of Care for Integrated Healthcare Services will be operated as profitable business ventures, with Merck being the Point of Care platform (fully equipped facility) provider and the entrepreneur running and operationalizing the business.
  • Merck and Health Africa will closely cooperate to identify appropriate properties for the location of the Pharmacy Structure in the following five counties – Kiambu, Kajiado, Machakos, Makueni and Mombasa Counties and to support the entrepreneurial business operations to ensure business success
  • The respective Points of Care will offer primary health services as well as pharmaceutical services at the community level working closely with the community health workers. Further details and information will be provided to the successful candidates.
In order to be an eligible applicant for this innovative business venture, the successful entrepreneur must meet the following requirements:
• Registered with the relevant regulatory body
• Clearance Certificate from the affiliated member association
• Minimum of three (3) years registration with the regulatory body
• Minimum of a diploma in pharmaceutical technology; Higher Education is a plus
• Clearance from the Credit Reference Bureau
• Valid Certificate of Good Conduct
•3 years of pharmaceutical experience and must be residents of one of the five target counties
