Job Summary

The International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC) is a public international organization (PIO) focused on increasing and sustaining food and agricultural productivity in developing countries through the development and transfer of effective and environmentally sound crop nutrient technology and agribusiness expertise. IFDC has been active in Uganda since 2012 implementing the Netherlands Embassy-funded CATALIST-Uganda Agribusiness Project (Catalyzed Accelerated Agricultural Intensification for Social and Environmental Stability) from 2012-2016, the REACH Market Systems Project (Resilient Efficient Agribusiness Chains) 2016-2020 and the 2SCALE Regional Agribusiness Incubation (Toward Sustainable Clusters in Agribusiness through Learning in Entrepreneurship Project (2012-2018).




Project Description

IFDC is recruiting for 1-2 anticipated USAID Market Systems & Input Project(s) (2018-2022) that will serve to sustainably increase smallholder farmer incomes; increase the availability, affordability and accessibility of farm inputs; improve the nutritional status of women and children; and increase the resilience of the agriculture and food system to the changing climate using a market systems approach.


Responsibilities

  1. The COP will provide the strategic vision and overall leadership of the project. S/He will be responsible for overseeing overall project management, coordination and oversight, and achievement of targeted results, including the technical, financial, and administrative functions of the project, ensuring an integrated approach among all project components and actors.
  2. The main duties of the COP will be overall project planning, implementation and management. The COP must ensure the smooth functioning and coordination of all project functions: program quality development and implementation; project finances and administration, outreach and reporting, monitoring and evaluation. The COP will seek to ensure the technical quality and appropriateness of the technical services provided through the project and the quality of the results generated.
  3. The COP will have technical and management responsibility for all project personnel and be the IFDC representative to USAID, Government of Uganda, specialized agencies, other donor, private companies, technical agencies and other participating organizations as required.
  4. The COP will have overall responsibility for assuring that all assistance provided under the project, whether by international or local experts/personnel, is technically sound and appropriate for the needs to be addressed; and for adequately managing and supervising the work of all experts/personnel provided under the project.
  5. The COP will be the primary point of contact for information on the progress and current status of all activities under the contract and will establish appropriate mechanisms to ensure that activity progress and specific implementation concerns are regularly and promptly reported.
  6. The COP will manage the preparation and presentation of proposed implementation plans and all reports.
