Job Summary

Location: Soliz House, Lumumba Avenue Kampala Uganda.
Reports to: Chief Operations Officer.

The key focus for this position will be strategic technology leadership, oversight over product development, technical business development, and recruitment; Software Engineering, Quality Assurance, Data Science & Engineering and Product Management.


Responsibilities

Platform selection and technical design
  • The CTO is responsible for maintaining the strategic focus of the project and is in charge of turning a concept into reality. The CTO may be called a product manager with the primary goal of managing a tech team and making business critical tech decisions, such as tech design planning, product architecture layout, and development platform selection. 
Engineer hunting and team growth management 
  • Hiring development team including organizing training activities for the tech department, self-education support, and team supervision. 
Cybersecurity 
  • Is in charge of security procedure development, algorithm development, conducting emergency audits, and ensuring that other engineers must work according to security rules set by the CTO. 
QA and product testing 
  • The CTO will develop a system of testing upcoming updates and tools to monitor the progress of technical development, including problem solving where challenges are realised. 
Growth roadmap and innovations
  • The CTO will build a growth roadmap taking into consideration corporate goals and strategies and implementing the step by step plan.The CTO works with various aspects of a digital product — development, UX, security, budgets, operationalprocesses, and team coordination. You will also be in charge of planning the next product version and techupdates.
Leadership
  • Inspire the creativity and success of cross-functional, adaptable teams.Foster innovation to keep our technology and our approach fresh and retain a strong team who are fulfilled bysolving tough problems.
  • Motivate, develop, and lead technical teams through periods of aggressive growth and through difficult businessenvironments.
  • Communicate the Company’s technology strategy to executive leadership, staff, partners, customers, thetechnology community, and external stakeholders.
Product Management
  • Drive product vision, product strategy, product design and product development, with visibility on every element ofproduct development from concept to launch, and post-launch performance.
Software & Data
  • Drive strategic thinking across the entire software and data ecosystem within clinicPesa which consists of internally built and off-the-shelf services.
  • Monitor changes and advancements in technology to discover ways we can gain a competitive advantage.
  • Cultivate external partnerships to enrich our internal software products and maintain focus on core functionality.
  • Drive clinicPesa’s technology vision and lead all aspects of the clinicPesa’s technological development, includingoutsourced partner selection and management.
  • Directly manage the existing team of Software and Data Directors.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • Proven dynamic leader of a high-growth technology organization. Payments experience a major plus.
  • 4+ years’ experience in software design and development, preferably in a SaaS or web-based environment, management of technical teams. 
  • Deep knowledge of MS .NET, C#, SQL Server, Web services and related technologies.
  • Strong familiarity with information security, risk management, and payments industry compliance requirements. 
  • Must be able to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment and interact with partners and customers directly. 
  • Exceptionally self-motivated and directed, with top-notch interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Proven ability to motivate in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. 
  • Superior analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Exceptional service orientation. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related discipline. 
  • Master’s degree in one of these fields is a plus.

Required relevant work experience: 5 years
Required languages: English (Spoken: fluent | Written: fluent)
