Job Summary

The Government Relations and Advocacy team at LG is responsible for promoting the visibility of the organizations. We are growing and now have an exciting new opportunity for a results driven expert in communications to join our team as the Communications Coordinator. The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer, an ideas generator, influencer, highly organized and a strong multi-tasker who can thrive in a fast paced environment. As the Coordinator, you will work with internal and external resources to share the stories of our impact and work of strengthening Community Health systems with audiences across the globe.


Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement a country-level communications strategy, in collaboration with communications, advocacy and program staff in Uganda, Kenya and the U.S.
  2. Regularly travel to the field to document compelling content and imagery about our work in Uganda, for both local and global audiences. This will include success stories, fact sheets, blog posts, emails, stakeholder reports, social media content, and more.
  3. Support the development of a new website in WordPress; help with creating and updating content on a regular basis. Support curation and posting of content on social media platforms.
  4. Identify and cultivate key press contacts to generate strategic earned media opportunities; assist with pitching and media relations.
  5. Provide internal communications leadership in Uganda, and identify communications tools and tactics that facilitate the sharing of important learnings and foster staff cohesion.
  6. Help train and build the capacity of other staff in Uganda to effectively write and document programs, to create an organizational culture supporting communications.
  7. Develop tailored communication tools such as PowerPoint presentations and talking points to support conferences, meetings, advocacy needs, etc.
  8. Organize and coordinate stakeholder meetings in collaboration with the Advocacy team.
