AFRIpads has grown exponentially over the past years evolving from a seed idea into a high-impact, professional manufacturing and sales enterprise. Having pioneered the reusable sanitary pad market in East Africa, AFRIpads has reached over 2 million women and girls with its product innovation and is a global leader in the menstrual hygiene management sector. AFRIpads is seeking an experienced and talented Communications Officer at this time of exponential growth to be the voice of AFRIpads and to strategically grow and amplify the company’s presence within Africa and worldwide.
The Communications Officer will be responsible for developing and executing all elements of the company’s communications strategy. The role allows for considerable scope, creativity and leadership. The individual will join a dynamic team in Uganda and will have the opportunity to work at the forefront of social enterprise in Africa by creating the voice that speaks to customers, entrepreneurs, investors, social impact experts, and the global community at large. The position comes with a 1-2 year contract depending on experience, with the opportunity for performance-based renewal.

- Manage, professionalize and systematize all aspects of AFRIpads’ communications; including but not limited to the company’s website, social media platforms, blog, newsletters, PR/media, social impact reports, marketing campaigns, and communication tools and materials
Develop and implement a multi-faceted communications strategy for AFRIpads across various platforms that incorporates cutting-edge multi-media and social media products, services and platforms
Leverage communications to uphold and advance AFRIpads’ position as an industry leader in the menstrual hygiene management space; and to strengthen the company’s profile, branding and positioning across every level in order to drive further sales, business development and expansion
Establish relationships with members of the media and pursue continuously regional and international opportunities for brand/product exposure and media coverage, including but not limited to print and digital media, conferences, and special events
Develop and oversee production of all internal and external communication materials (brochures, press releases, web copy, newsletters, presentations, training materials, employee communications, etc.)
Develop measurement tools and KPIs to track and report progress and gauge success, and use these metrics to support and refine future communications content and actions
Support the sales and marketing departments with all company/brand communications and materials to ensure the look, tone and feel remain consistent and effective
Liaise with government, civil society organizations, private sector and other key stakeholders as the voice behind the AFRIpads brand to advance and represent the company’s social mission and objectives
