Job Qualifications

  1. Be a holder of at least a first degree from a university recognized in Kenya, in Environmental Science, Planning, Housing or any related disciplines;
  2. Master’s degree in a related specialized area will be an added advantage;
  3. Be a member of a professional body with good standing
  4. A senior management and leadership course from a recognized institution
  5. Demonstrate leadership and professional competence as reflected in work performance
  6. Satisfy the requirements of Chapter six of the constitution
  7. Understanding of county and key national Policies, Objectives and Strategies on environmental and planning


The Coordinator, Urban Planning, Environment and Housing reports to the Governor’s office and is responsible for the following:

  1. Advise the Governor on Urban planning, Environment and Housing;
  2. Work with the technical team in the respective areas;
  3. Responsible to the Governor for Policy Interpretation, Guidance and Review of Urban Planning, Environment and Housing in the City
  4. Liaise with Consultants and Stake Holders where necessary to ensure NCC Government adopts appropriate partnerships and linkage.

The Nairobi City County is the creation of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and successor of the defunct City Council of Nairobi.
