Job Summary

People are at the heart of every transaction we facilitate. We design products and deliver services that improve people's lives — one transaction at a time.We're recruiting for a Country Manager to join our growing team.
The country/community manager will be critical to having our feet firmly on the ground and in managing our brand, users and partners in our countries of presence. Our countries of presence are those where we are registered and are serving users but do not really have an office. Thus, we foresee the community manager as holding the fort here for us and growing our user base and brand without the need for hiring full staff until such time when that is needed.

Responsibilities

Manage user community in country

  • Establish first-line response/ interface with users
  • Handle all communication, complaints, comments, feedback online/ offline with users, resolving or escalating as appropriate with relevant person/ department
Growth
  • Develop user growth plans with a goal for sustainable organic growth
  • Develop and execute sound strategy for user retention and engagement
  • Scope and recruit merchants for Chipper Checkout
Manage branding/ marketing
  • Be the face of the company on the ground with users and partners, ensuring total vision sale out and brand credibility
  • Provide market intelligence to position brand strongly for growth
  • Liaise with HoM Africa to develop market-specific content/ experiments to achieve user growth and client satisfaction
Stakeholding and ground intel
  • Cultivate and maintain a healthy relationship/ partnership with partners, including the government and private sector
  • Collect, synthesize and communicate on the ground market data/ intel to inform in country strategy
Reporting
  • Directly report to Chipper East African MD, including timely daily/ weekly/ monthly updates and bi-weekly/ monthly reports on on-the-ground progress
Requirements
  • Demonstrable partnerships building abilities, particularly with telcos, merchants, and the regulator. Min 5 years
  • Solid understanding of the fintech/ finserv space; previous stint at either fintech or finserv a must
  • Marketing and sales abilities, including BTL and ATL skills, and track record for solid sales strategy and execution
  • Demonstrable knowledge of laws and regulations governing fintech in specific country
  • Understanding of user profiles in specific country, including segmentation, socio-cultural dynamics etc. that directly/ indirectly affect Chipper’s strategy for acquisition and retention of users
  • Knowledge of the competitive landscape in specific country and demonstrable ability to maneuver the competitive environment
  • Data analytics abilities including knowledge and expertise in using statistical/ data analysis software

Job Requirements

Required education: Bachelor's degree
Required relevant work experience: 5 years
Required languages: English (Spoken: fluent | Written: fluent)
