Job Summary

  1. To ensure efficient and effective financial management of projects undertaken by the University and to develop appropriate strategies for budgeting and monitoring all different operations of the University.
  2. To ensure efficient and effective management of payroll and timely payment of salaries and wages.


Interested persons who meet the minimum requirements should submit their applications together with the following:
  1. A detailed and up-to-date Curriculum Vitae.
  2. Certified copies of academic transcripts, certificates, and professional qualifications, appointment letters, and in case of health workers; registration certificates and valid practicing license from relevant professional bodies.
  3. Names and addresses of three referees.
  4. Copies of the National Identity Card, birth certificate or copies of relevant pages of the passport and National ID indicating the applicant’s date of birth.


Responsibilities

  1. Develop appropriate strategies for budgeting and monitoring all the revenue and expenditure relating to capital development projects and operational activities.
  2. Ensure timely preparation of corporate budget and annual budget by consulting and coordinating all Deans of Faculty, Directors of School and Heads of Departments.
  3. Compile and analyse financial information to prepare entries to accounts such as cash books entry journals ad general ledger accounts.
  4. Ensure timely preparation and production of payroll.
  5. Ensure timely and accurate payment of salaries and wages.
  6. Review all financial transactions to ensure they are properly documented in accordance with accounting policies and procedures.
  7. Ensure the analysis of financial information on assets, liabilities and capital development projects to ensure that balance sheet, surplus and loss statements and other reports to summarize current and projected financial position are prepared.
  8. Audit contracts, orders, and vouchers and preparing reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement.
  9. Ensure proper maintenance of financial information system to cover general ledger, job costing as well as a fixed assets management register for documenting acquisition, maintenance, valuation, depreciation, capitalization, replacement and disposal of assets.
  10. Ensure the reconciliation of all income statements against expenditure to ensure that records of income, creditors and debtors are completed at the end of each month.
  11. Review analysis of activities, costs, operations and forecast data to determine the progress of each project against budget.
  12. Prepare each project against budget.
  13. Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports.
  14. Assist the University Bursar in preparing final accounts.
