Job Summary

We are a leading supplier of stationery, IT, furniture and other office supplies in Kenya. We have been operating for over 30 years, and partner with some of the largest corporations, NGOs, educational institutions and government entities. We have both retail and corporate operations, and recently expanded our footprint through an e-commerce platform.
We are seeking to recruit a dynamic, highly motivated and results oriented Director of Operations. As a member of the Management Team, he/she will be involved in all aspects of company leadership and management. He/she will lead operations, finance and execution, ensuring the company delivers on its strategy and targets.
The candidate should be well versed with technology/systems, have an entrepreneurial and proactive attitude and have experience working with trading and distribution systems in Kenya/E.Africa. Experience with E-Commerce platforms is a strong advantage.
The Director of Operations will have P&L and operational responsibility, and will lead sales management, procurement and logistics operations and finance/HR. He/she will work to optimise the operational processes, set KPIs, increase sales/profitability and resource productivity.
The role is based in Nairobi with no travel requirements.

Requirements
  • Degree level education; MBA added advantage
  • 10+ years’ work experience in a distribution / operations role; Experience with E-Commerce an advantage
  • Excellent computer / technology skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • High level of familiarity with sales, operations, and strategy formulation
  • Very strong communication and negotiation skills; fluency in English and Swahili
  • Business acumen and strong commercial vision
  • Very good organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in managing and developing teams of more than 10 people
  • An individual of unquestionable integrity willing to go the extra mile to deliver results consistently

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with executive-level management in the development of company goals and long-term strategy and operational plans
  • Manage and implement technology platforms and systems to drive data driven decision making
  • Plan, monitor, and analyze key KPIs for the day-to-day performance of the operations (sales, procurements and deliveries) to ensure high customer satisfaction
  • Optimise current processes to deliver on sales and profitability targets
  • Expand upon the current e-commerce strategy and foster innovation across the company
  • Build and maintain relationships with all stakeholders (internal and external)
  • Motivate and mentor the team, and drive employee engagement / satisfaction

Job Requirements

Required education: Bachelor's degree
Required relevant work experience: 10 years
Required languages: English (Spoken: fluent | Written: fluent)
