Job Summary

The English Teacher is a member of the Senior School at The Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa and plays an instrumental role in realizing the vision and mission of the network of Academies.

We will look to the English Teacher to play a central role in raising the standards of student attainment and achievement within the English Language and monitor and support student progress.
Valued additional assets:
• Experience working in a cross-cultural environment
• Experience with residential programmes is an advantage
• Commitment to the co-curricular life of the school is expected
• Track record of producing exemplary results at the IB Exams or Moderation.
• Grounded knowledge in educational research
• Willingness to engage with faculty members across the grade 1–12 continuum


Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide an exemplary role model for teaching, professionalism and support the Head of Department in preparing a plan for professional development of the department.
• Uphold high standards of preparation, teaching and discipline.
• Support teachers across the Senior School in their Unit planning and delivery to ensure highest possible levels of achievement
• Develop a coordinated English Scope and Sequence, which articulates the programme and ensures that it is age appropriate by referencing against external benchmarks.
• Through Collaborative planning, deliver English lessons as required across the School.
• Classroom teaching as required.
