Job Summary

We are a UK based charity that has built and funds a primary and a high school in rural Kenya, which are next door to each other. The primary school has 750 students while the high school has 350 students. The students all come from disadvantaged backgrounds, some with learning difficulties.
We are recruiting an Executive Headteacher, who will report to one of the leading UK school trusts, to provide strategic and visionary leadership, hold overall accountability for the direction of the schools, whilst empowering all children and staff to excel. We wish to make our schools ‘beacons of excellence’, by maximizing potential through the skills and resources available.
Key qualifications
• Bachelors degree in education or a post graduate diploma in education
COMPULSORY Registered with the Teachers Service Commission- Must have
• Successful leadership and five years management experience in a Kenyan school
• Proven track record of measurable school improvement
• Data analysis skills and the ability to use data to set targets and identify weaknesses
• Effective communication and inter-personal skills
• Ability to build effective working relationships
• Understanding of an integrated curriculum with financial management


• To create and communicate a shared vision, ethos and strategic plan for both schools that inspires and motivates all stakeholders
• Translate the shared vision into clear and measurable objectives that promote and sustain school improvement
• Provide leadership and management enabling the schools to give every student a high-quality education
• Commitment to safeguarding and equality
• Build leadership capacity and sustainability
• Lead by example, maintaining high expectations of all
• Build positive relationships with all members of the school communities
• Work with political and financial astuteness, translating policy into school context
• Seek training and continuing professional development to meet own needs

  • The candidate must have a TSC registration number
  • The candidate must either have a Bachelors degree in education or a Post graduate Diploma in Education.

Required relevant work experience: 5 years
Required languages: English (Spoken: fluent | Written: fluent)
