Job Summary

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Finance Manager’s role is a management role designed to act as a liaison between senior management team and operational aspects of the business. The holder of this position is expected to deeply appreciate the strategic aspects and policies of the programme and translate them into operational tasks of the business.

Key qualifications

  1. Fully Qualified Accountant (CPA(K), ACCA
  2. Master's degree is an added advantage
  3. Bachelor's Degree in Finance or a related field.
  4. At least 8 years accounting and administrative experience in a similar position
  5. Excellent eye for detail, sound knowledge of international accounting standards, well organized and exercises sound judgment in decision making.


  1. Ensure best practice in financial management of the organisation to maximize efficiency and growth.
  2. Maximize return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems to meet legislative and reporting requirements and support the operations.
  3. Oversee the day to day activities of the finance team and ensure the finance function is organised and efficient and produces accurate information to support decision making in the organisation
  4. Manage the Organisation finance operations and overseeing the finance team.
  5. Provide policy direction in the development of the programme budget, monitor actual financial results; prepare financial forecasts, analysis and reports; direct the preparation of all financial reports and reports to partners and government regulatory agencies
  6. Provide accurate cash-flow projections to the programme management team
  7. Review management reports regularly and present to the Organisation management team and highlight any exceptions for prompt action
  8. Assess the Organisation financial performance and identify and implement revenue and cost reduction improvements
  9. Support and participate in Organisation meetings and initiatives
  10. Implement the decisions of the firms’ Board and review compliance of the Organisation with Financial Policies and Board of Directors directives related to financial, legal, insurance, property and other matters.
  11. Act as a resource to senior management of the Organisation on matters relating to finance and insurance. 
  12. Reconcile Organisation items that have an effect on the firm’s Balance sheet accounts.
  13. Ensure organisation compliance with tax laws and regulations including filing of VAT Returns and claims.
  14. Monitor financial policies and procedures to ensure the best and most efficient use of the Organisation resources; ensure internal controls are in place to enhance security, minimize opportunity for fraud and protect the financial integrity of records.
  15. Review draft accounts and the final financial statements and manage the programme audit process.
  16. Act as the first point of contact for the auditors, and communicate with them to ensure all questions can be answered efficiently.
  17. Lead on any recommendations that are suggested in the audit report or management letter.
  18. Manage and mentor finance department staff, provide direction, feedback on performance and coaching for skill development.
  19. Undertake other duties as your line manager should require in keeping with the responsibility of the post.
