Job Summary

The job holder will be accountable for developing the short-term business plan for General Insurance Business and coordinating the implementation of the work plan with the functional managers to enable the achievement of the set targets.


Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement the department objectives, budgets and business plan in order to achieve set business targets

2. Grow General business growth against set targets both on retention and new business - Development of sales targets (both new business and renewal) for respective channels including Brokers, independent agents, banc assurance etc.
3. In coordination with the head of micro insurance, develop and grow the micro insurance business
4. Develop incentive programs for intermediaries and distribution channels
5. Ensure Business retention of at least 85%
6. Conducting Market Research, product bench marking, analyzing Business trends, providing market intelligence to JIC Management and implementing corrective actions to reverse negative business trends
7. Recruiting, developing and regular training of brokers and agents to achieve maximum production targets
8. Participating in client portfolio reviews and setting of underwriting terms
9. Work with the underwriting team to ensure business is accepted and reinsured appropriately
10. Coordinate with department for new products and channels of business
11. Developing and maintaining productive relationship with intermediaries through well planned regular visits and review of business incentives to motivate performance
12. Building internal working relationship between intermediaries and the underwriting staff by organizing networking functions with the aim of improving intercompany working relationships
13. Assisting in the implementation of credit control policy and ensuring adherence to the Cash and Cary regulations
14. Strive to keep the loss ratio at acceptable levels and propose measures that will allow Jubilee maintain profitability
15. Work with pricing team for competitive quote pricing through market intelligence support
16. Provide monthly reports (marketing report, monthly growth and renewals, analysis of the percentage growth per month and against the year target and comparison of the same to the previous year performance)
17. Providing overall leadership to the business development team - Influencing motivation in order to make people succeed in proportion to their capacity
18. Provide business development oversight and in coordination with the branches and agencies, ensure the respective targets are achieved.
