Job Summary

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines:- Criminology, Criminal Justice, Law, Social Sciences or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
  2. Shown merit, integrity and ability as reflected in work performance and results; National Police Service Commission – Vacancies Announcement February 2018
  3. Strong managerial skills, including motivating, developing, coaching and leading teams;
  4. Training in senior management course lasting not less than three (3) weeks from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
  5. Training in Fraud/ financial investigations;
  6. Knowledge and appreciation of ICT and modern Technology in investigation;
  7. Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya;
  8. Ten (10) years’ experience in criminal investigations of which three(3) years should be at a senior position in a comparative position in public service or private sector.

In addition to the qualifications set out in the Constitution and the Enabling Statutes, applications must further furnish clearance certificates from:- a) Director, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission(EACC); b) Commissioner General, Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA); c) Chief Executive Officer, Higher Education Loans Board (HELB); d) Professional bodies (where applicable) to which the applicant belongs such as LSK, ICPS(K), ICPAK, AAK, IEK, etc.; e) Certificate of Good Conduct from DCI

  1. Planning and coordinating investigation activities;
  2. Allocating investigation functions to individual team members and monitoring performance;
  3. Assessing and prioritizing team workloads;
  4. Supervising and coordinating available resources against workloads, managing team functions including cases from reception to final report writing, ensuring efficient workload;
  5. Overseeing the day to day tasks and performance of the team members, coaching and mentoring team members, and identifying individual and collective training needs;
  6. Gathering and presenting regular accurate updates to Director of Strategy, Research and Vetting;
  7. Providing guidance and advice to team members on investigations function;
  8. Auditing investigations files to ensure adherence to NPSC standards;
  9. Liaising with other internal departments on investigations issues, external agencies such as ODPP, Judiciary and other actors in criminal justice administration;
  10. Ensuring compliance with directorate objectives, policies, procedures, annual work plan and strategic plan;
  11. Disseminating and implementing Directorate’s decisions;
  12. Leading and conducting investigations into cases and public interest cases;
  13. Any other related duties as may be assigned to you by Management from time to time.
