The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-Habitat, is the agency for human settlements. It is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all.
The UN-HABITAT internship is for 6 months.
The Internship is UNPAID and full-time.
Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background; the intern's assigned office as well as the internship period.
Under the Supervision of Programme Officer the intern will:
Supporting different types of activities related to the Technical Centre for Sustainability, Disaster Risk Management and Urban Resilience (DiMSUR), including the further improvement and dissemination of the City Resilience Action Planning (City Rap) Tool;
Support communication and outreach activities, such as drafting articles for the UN-Habitat and DiMSUR websites;
Supporting the development of new projects and undertaking research regarding urban resilience, climate change mitigation and adaptation and disaster risk reduction;
Supporting project management, such as monitoring, and liaison with donors and partners;
- Perform other tasks related to urban resilience, disaster risk reduction and climate change and adaptation in ROAf as needed.
