Job Summary

A rewarding Laboratory Assistant position to join a brand new International private school in Kenya. The school has proven excellence, particularly on the academic and leadership front, with a British Curriculum – IGCSE system


  1. Setting up equipment, chemicals and supplies for chemistry, physics and biology laboratories;
  2. Maintain and oversee inventory of equipment and chemical supplies.
  3. Ordering and handling the required chemicals and gasses under the direction of the teachers.
  4. Properly sterilize equipment and glassware using the appropriate solvents.
  5. Prepare and perform titrations to verify the concentration of standardized solutions.
  6. Research and test the efficiency of new and exciting alternative experiments.
  7. Prepare molar solutions of acids by diluting concentrated solutions and calculate relative volumes of concentrate acid and water.
  8. Prepare buffer solutions of a given pH and calibrate the pH meter, prepare chemical indicators and biological stain solutions using appropriate quantities of reagents.
  9. Assist teachers in supervising activities, setting and invigilating practical exam papers, moderating and marking the practical exam papers.
  10. Organised and oversee Science days and the Science Expo.
  11. Promotion of Life Sciences and Physical Sciences department for open days.
