Job application procedure
Applications are invited from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the vacant posts that exist in Pallisa District Local Government. Applications must be submitted in triplicate on PSC Form No. 3 (Revised 2008) and addressed to The Secretary District Service Commission Pallisa, P.O Box 14 Pallisa, and to be received no later than 2nd December 2020. Application forms can be obtained from Secretaries to the District Service Commissions countrywide or Public Service Commission at Farmers House Kampala. Detailed information on these posts can be obtained from the Job Descriptions and person specifications guidelines for jobs in local Governments, 2011, and 2017 as well as other Public Service circular letters and guidelines relating to recruitments that are available in all districts and also on websites or Applications should bear 3 recent passport size photographs, certified academic documents, a copy of a National Identity Card, and other relevant supporting documents with day time contact phone number. Serving officers should route their applications through their Heads of Department who must be informed of the closing date to avoid delay. Only successful candidates will be contacted and will be required to come along with their original certificates, National and institutional Identity cards for interviews. Falsification of documents is a crime and a candidate involved will be personally held liable for the consequences.
Job purpose:
To assist in acquiring, organizing, managing and distributing library resources, and ensure that the library provisions meet the needs of all its users.
A Diploma in either library information management or information management


i. Selecting, developing, cataloguing and classifying library resources
ii.  Keeping current on resources, literature, and selecting publications for the library's collection.
iii. Answering readers' enquiries
iv. Using library systems and specialist computer applications
v. Management of staff, training and/or supervisory duties 
vi. Furnishing reference, bibliographical, and readers' advisory services.
vii. Liaising with departmental staff, external organizations and suppliers
viii. Ensuring that library services meet the needs of particular groups of users (e.g. staff, students, people with disabilities )
ix. Managing budgets and resources
x. Supporting independent research and learning
xi. Developing IT facilities
xii. Assisting readers to use computer equipment, conduct literature searches etc.
xiii. Promoting the library's resources to users

Job Requirements

Required education: Diploma, Associate's degree
Required relevant work experience: 2 years
Required languages: English (Spoken: fluent | Written: fluent)
