Job Summary

The American Refugee Committee (ARC) works with its partners and constituents to provide opportunities and expertise to refugees, disabled people and host communities- to better survive conflicts and crisis and to rebuild lives of dignity, health, security and self-sufficiency. ARC has been operational in Uganda since 1994 and today has a strong and committed team of over 130 regular and full time national staff and partners.

The overall goal of the Uganda program is to improve the well-being and self-reliance of the displaced refugee populations by ensuring the provision of basic services (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene; Community Services; SGBV protection; Child protection; Mental Health & Psychological support), currently in six refugee settlements Nakivale, Oruchinga, Kyaka II, Kyangwali, Bidi Bidi and Palabek in Uganda.


ARC is looking for qualified, competent, self-driven and committed individuals to be part of and contribute to accomplishing our ambitious and exciting 2018/2019 programming - several challenging full time positions across various refugee settlement sites as well as the ARC main office - Kampala, Uganda;

Responsibilities

  1. The Livelihoods Officer will serve as the site-level lead on all ARC refugee and host community livelihood sector activities
  2. Ensuring that livelihood activities are planned, present real and sustainable opportunities to refugees and host communities
  3. Retain links with local and regional markets in a bid to increase sustainability and scalability of ARC livelihood activities, particularly business development and promotion
  4. Experience contributing to livelihood strategy development and proposal writing preferred
