Job Summary

Qualifications Knowledge and Skills:

  1. Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Investment, Economics, Business Administration from a recognized institution;
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounts or Economics, Business Administration from a recognized institution;
  3. Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPAK) or Association of Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA);
  4. Members of Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPAK);
  5. Computer literacy;
  6. Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the constitution of Kenya;
  7. Ten (10) years of service, of which three (3) should be in a comparable position from a reputable organization.

In addition to the qualifications set out in the Constitution and the Enabling Statutes, applications must further furnish clearance certificates from:- a) Director, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission(EACC); b) Commissioner General, Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA); c) Chief Executive Officer, Higher Education Loans Board (HELB); d) Professional bodies (where applicable) to which the applicant belongs such as LSK, ICPS(K), ICPAK, AAK, IEK, etc.; e) Certificate of Good Conduct from DCI

Application Submission

  1. Lead the development and implementation of the internal audit strategy for the commission;
  2. Lead the preparation and implementation of the audit budget;
  3. Provide leadership in and approve the overall audit plan derived from the audit strategy;
  4. Provide leadership in the development and implementation of the Audit Framework;
  5. Ensure the development, review and implementation of audit policies and procedures;
  6. Review the annual risk based audit plan and present it to the audit committee for approval, and monitor its implementation; 7. Approve and present quality and timely audit reports to the audit committee on a quarterly basis; 8. Coordinate the activities of and provide secretarial services to the audit committee;
  7. Champion enterprise risk management in the commission and assess the effectiveness of risk management strategies implemented by the commission;
  8. Prepare audit documentation through the update of the audit procedures on the audit working paper;

  10. Identify, analyses and escalate fraud corruption cases that require further investigation, to support the achievement of the commission mandate through cost and reputation management;
  11. Carryout investigation as assigned and prepare reports for management to support the development and implementation of strategies that protect the commission from all risks and
  12. Conduct the annual verification of the commission’s assets.
