Job Summary

ABOUT LYNK:
Lynk is a startup which builds technology to connect blue collar workers in Kenya - from carpenters to cleaners - to jobs. Our suite of products seeks to satisfy a breadth of consumer needs, which provide multiple channels to increase incomes for workers in our system:

  • Lynk: A marketplace product enabling customers to request services or order ready-to-buy services in over 50 categories from cleaners, to masseuses, to plumbers, and tailors.
  • Lynk Projects: A turnkey construction firm, providing design and management services in fitout and construction projects, delivered by Pros on the Lynk platform
  • Lynk for Business: Maintenance, facilities management, and project management services for business clients delivered by Lynk Pros

A bit about the role:
The Marketing Manager is responsible for making sure that people are obsessed with our products and that Lynk grows into a trusted household brand. To do this, s/he is responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive and multi-channel strategy and the means to measure its effectiveness.

A bit about you:
You have an intuitive understanding of how people work and what makes them tick. You think strategically, and can be disciplined in your implementation of creative ideas.You have excellent organization and planning skills and are excited by the idea to build something from scratch. You are creative as well as analytical and use both of these traits to create, implement, and refine campaigns that enhance the image of Lynk and improve its bottom line.



Successful candidates will have all or most of these qualifications:
  • Passionate about our mission to transform the informal sector and have tons of ideas on how we can do it better
  • Degree in business, marketing, design, communications or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in ecommerce, marketplace, mobile technology, or related business
  • Demonstrated track record for driving strong user growth
  • Able to work across a variety of functions, and for things you don’t know you’re eager to get your hands dirty and figure it out.
  • Strong analytical skills and deep understanding of Microsoft excel
  • Excellent copywriting skills
  • An insatiable hunger to build, grow, and scale products
  • Experience in the Kenyan Market strongly preferred


Responsibilities

You’ll be responsible for:

Strategy, Measurement & Management

  • Developing overarching strategy for the brand
  • Designing and planning marketing strategy with individual teams or business units
  • Measuring the effectiveness of all marketing campaigns or customer facing properties
  • Acting as the steward of our brand and keeping a constant ear to the ground
  • Working with internal and external partners as needed such as design, product, sales, and others
  • Building and managing a team capable of scaling these efforts exponentially, including a creative function
  • Getting your hands dirty - whenever there are holes or gaps, you will be the one to fill it and whenever there is a new need you are the type that wants to dive in first to learn

Digital Marketing
  • Digital Advertising - Creating highly effective digital campaigns across facebook, google, etc
  • Social Media - Building unique and exciting campaigns that our audiences love
  • Email Marketing -  Engaging our customers with relevant and beautifully designed content
  • Content development - oversee content development team, from video development to graphics
ATL Marketing & Sales
  • Sales activations - Managing activation agencies to drive sales and brand awareness
  • Channel Partnerships - Creating partnerships that help us drive sales and acquire customers
  • ATL marketing - Leading media buys across strategic channels to drive maximum impact

Job Requirements

Required education: Bachelor's degree
Required relevant work experience: 3 years
