Job Summary

The Technical Advisor “Nutrition” will be in charge of

  1. Conceptualize the nutrition component and further development of nutrition training materials
  2. Coordination of all project activities in the nutrition component together with the Partners of the Health Department and Agriculture Department in three counties (e.g. community nutrition dialogues, school-based nutrition activities)
Required qualifications, competences and experience

  1. Bachelor Degree in nutrition science or related fields
  2. Proven project expertise on topics related to nutrition and food security in Kenya
  3. Very good organisational skills
  4. Good knowledge on M&E and willingness to improve knowledge on M&E
  5. Process-oriented and good coordination and management skills.
Professional experience
  1. 7-10 years of relevant working experience – preferably in development projects
Other knowledge, additional competences
  1. Very good working knowledge of ICT technologies and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
  2. High intercultural sensitivity and very good organisational skills
  3. Process-orientation
  4. Fluent written and oral knowledge of the English language widely used in the country
  5. Willingness to acquire additional skills/competencies as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are to be agreed at with the project manager.



  1. Organization and Implementation of Train the Trainer (ToT) courses
  2. Facilitating and maintaining networks of stakeholders in the nutrition component while working closely together with county partner structures, including county departments of Agriculture (Home Economists) and Health (Nutrition Officers) as well as Community Health Extension Workers (CHEW) and Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) in selected communities
  3. Support the counties and National Potato Council of Kenya in integrating nutrition in sub-sector strategies (e.g. National and County Potato Strategy)
  4. Support cross-border learning exchange in the field of nutrition with the Ugandan Country Package of the “Promotion of nutrition-sensitive potato value chains in East Africa” Programme
  5. Continuous monitoring of activities and achievements (results-based monitoring)
  6. Supporting monitoring and evaluation-based activities of the program
  7. Follow up the implementation of the contributions of supported partners (e.g. Counties)
  8. Supporting the project manager in guiding missions and coordinating related consultancies and data/information gathering for efficient implementation of the project
  9. Supporting coordination and preparation of workshops, field trips and meetings
  10. Contribute to the SNRD Working Group “Food Security, Nutrition &
  11. Resilience”
  12. Planning, preparation, execution and follow up of studies
  13. Ensuring that rules and regulations of the GIZ are adhered to
