Job Summary

Job Purpose:
The Office Courier is responsible for picking up and deliver messages, documents, packages, and other items between offices or departments within an establishment or directly to other business concerns, traveling by foot, bicycle, motorcycle, automobile, or public conveyance.

Must own a motorcycleReports To: Administration Officer
Supervises: None
Qualifications
• Minimum O-Level Certificate with a credit in English
• A licensed motorcycle driver in possession of Class A
• At least 3 years’ experience of office-related work in a busy reputable organization

Knowledge and Experience
• Thorough knowledge of Mukono, Kampala and surrounding areas

• Demonstrate experience of supporting managers and teams across a variety of departments at different levels

• Experience in data processing, use of MS Office Suite

• Previous experience working in a cross-cultural setting is required

Responsibilities

Carrying out deliveries of messages, documents, items, etc
• Walk, ride bicycles/motorcycles, drive vehicles, or use public conveyances to reach destinations to deliver messages or materials.


• Deliver messages and items, such as newspapers, documents, correspondences, and packages, between establishment departments, and to other establishments and private homes and/or to their rightful physical addresses within a specified time frame.

• Retrieve and pick-up packages and correspondences from various locations for delivery to various destinations.

• Record information, such as items received and delivered and recipients’ responses to messages.

• Informing the Administration Officer and/or HR & Administration Manager of any physical changes in a change of address of business for the timely update of the Company external directory.

• Ensuring proper maintenance of the Company’s motorbike through routine checks such as monitoring fluid levels and replenishing fuel, and timely reporting of any identified faults to ensure the proper functioning of the motorbike.

• Unload and sort items collected along delivery routes and to be delivered according to the delivery route.

• Plan and follow the most efficient routes for delivering goods.

• Obtain signatures and payments or arrange for recipients to make payments.

• Receive messages or materials to be delivered, and information on recipients, such as names, addresses, telephone numbers, and delivery instructions, communicated via telephone, or in person.

• Record information, such as items received and delivered and recipients' responses to messages.

• Check with offices or individuals after completed deliveries, to confirm deliveries and collections and to receive instructions for other deliveries.

Any other duties as may be assigned by the Administration Officer

Job Requirements

Required education: High, secondary school
Required relevant work experience: 3 years
Required languages: English (Spoken: fluent | Written: fluent)
