Job Summary

Applications are invited from suitably qualified, serving Public Officers in Ministries/Departments/Agencies and Local Governments to fill vacant posts


Responsibilities

  1. Setting standards for the control of disease, pests and weed climatic conditions;
  2. Collecting samples, preparing and carrying out quality control under sterile conditions;
  3. Undertaking quality control activities/ experiments to ensure proper investigations and tests development;
  4. Participating in activities leading to the identification of pests and disease and weed strains in the country;
  5. Preparing re-agents and all the required materials used in the laboratories;
  6. Creating and maintaining records related to tests and investigations of pests, diseases and weeds;
  7. Undertaking, guiding and supporting research activities and quality control experiments;
  8. Carrying out proper storage and use of laboratory equipment;
  9. Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

The Public Service Commission (Uganda)

The Public Service Commission is established under the provisions of Article 165(1) of the 1995 Constitution. In fulfillment of its functions under Article 166, the Commission is required to make a report to Parliament in respect of each year’s performance of its functions. Under Article 166 (4) of the same Constitution, Parliament is required by law to empower the Public Service Commission to make regulations for the effective and efficient performance of its functions. This is in addition to the provisions of Article 251 (1) which empowers the Commission to regulate its own procedure or confer powers or impose duties on any officer or authority of the Government for the purpose of discharging its functions. In light of the above, a draft Public Service Commission Bill has been prepared and submitted to the Cabinet for approval. Currently the Public Service Commission Regulations guide the Commission in the carrying out of its functions in addition to other relevant regulations such as the Standing Orders, Establishment Notices and Circulars that guide the management of the Public Service in general.
