Job Summary

Cytonn Investments is an independent investments management firm, with offices in Nairobi - Kenya and D.C. Metro - U.S. We are primarily focused on offering alternative investment solutions to global and local institutional investors, individual high net-worth investors, and diaspora investors interested in the East-African region.


Our investments are in real estate and private equity. Real estate investments are made through our development affiliate, Cytonn Real Estate, where we currently have over Kshs. 82 billion (USD 820 mn) of projects under mandate across ten projects. In private equity, we invest in banking, insurance, education, hospitality and technology. Our financial services investments in Sub Saharan Africa are made through our Cytonn Financial Services Fund (CFSF) through which we are the 6th largest shareholder in NIC Bank in Kenya. Investments in education and hospitality are made through Cytonn Education Services and Cytonn Hospitality, respectively.
The procurement Manager/ Associate will be responsible for the procurement of products and services essential for the company's operations. He/she will strategize to find the most cost effective deals and suppliers. The procurement manager's role is to discover the best ways to minimize our procurement expense so that the company can invest in its growth and people

REQUIREMENTS
  1. Relevant university degree with at least 2nd Class honours, upper division
  2. At least B+ in KCSE
  3. 3-5 years' experience in Procurement
  4. Member of a relevant professional body
  5. Knowledge in sourcing techniques and market understanding
  6. Aptitude in decision making and working with numbers
  7. Attention to detail and accuracy
  8. Knowledge in clearing and forwarding and overseas procurement
  9. Strong leadership capabilities
  10. Possess comprehensive knowledge in ERP application software
  11. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  12. Strong negotiations and networking abilities


Responsibilities

  1. He/She will be the in-house procurement expert, providing advice and guidance to colleagues on all procurement matters and managing higher value procurement directly
  2. To be responsible for the issuance, update and control of the company's procurement policy and procedures
  3. To be responsible for the formulation of procurement strategies
  4. Deliver and monitor compelling analysis and insights that inform management of the results of the company's procurement activities to inform strategic decision making
  5. Provide input into the business planning and budgeting process
  6. Carry out forward planning of procurement activity including reviewing tender events schedules
  7. Proactively build, develop and maintain valuable relationships with key stakeholders, across businesses and geographies, and with the wider supply chain services team
  8. Develop effective supplier relationships and ensure implementation of effective supplier management practices in conjunction with contract management and business, according to best practice and in a cost effective manner
  9. Development of robust and appropriate contracts including liaison with specialist across businesses to ensure compliance to contract management and group policies

  11. Clearly define the supply chain in coordination with the cross-functional project team and aligning the team with the various procurement strategies to be executed
  12. Creating and maintaining project procurement plans, assuring superior supply chain execution throughout the entire project, documenting and communicating the supply chain strategy to cross functional project teams
  13. Implementing professional sourcing process and coordinating procurement activities to deliver optimized material /service cost and ensure supply base meets the project's cost, delivery and quality requirement and proactively driving procurement strategies in the project process- pooling, bundling, designing to cost etc.
  14. Understanding the scope of supply and customer contract agreements, performing risk analysis and preparing for negotiations with suppliers and identifying supply chain risks and monitoring the market forces related to supply chain during the project execution to avoid potential issues/risks
  15. Present overall supply chain status to Management within organization, including status of Engineering release, RFQ status, Purchase Order Status
  16. Managing resources within supply chain to cover workload peaks during project ramp ups in collaboration with the Project Manager
  17. Where applicable be responsible for inventory management
  18. Getting involved early within the project at the proposal stage, to drive material cost optimization and establishing project material budgets
  19. Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
