Job Summary

We are looking for a Program Officer, based in our Uganda office, who will support the coordination, training, and monitoring of partners implementing the UTZ certification in the Great Lakes countries Rwanda, Burundi and DRC. He/she will organize and facilitate member training workshops, and member visits, supports and develops the roll out of approved trainers program in the region and support projects. This position will require supporting and maintaining strong relationships with members, partners and government entities to maintain and safeguard the quality of implementation of UTZ certification in the Great Lakes Countries.


Qualifications:

  1. Master’s Degree preferably in relevant field such as agriculture, development economics, business management, actuarial sciences, international trade or other related disciplines
  2. At least five years of experience working in the coffee or cocoa sector in trading or sustainability projects, with proven management and reporting experience
  3. Three years’ experience of certification or traceability of products
  4. Proven experience in training and capacity building for adults
  5. Proven knowledge and experience of extension, project monitoring and data analysis methodologies
  6. Strong analytical skills and coordination skills and passion for information technology
  7. Languages: English and French (proficient), Kiswahili or a local language will be added advantage
  8. Credible ambassador, communicator, networker with intercultural skills and able to work with different types of stakeholders


Responsibilities

  1. Supports and monitors members in the implementation of the UTZ certification program in DRC, Rwanda and Burundi
  2. Provides training and support on the use of the traceability system to members in East Africa
  3. Supports on ToT training on to UTZ members in the Great Lakes region
  4. Liaises with government, NGOs and stakeholders on sector information and project implementation
  5. Participates in national platform(s), conferences and meetings on sustainable agriculture
  6. Acts as an inspiring ambassador of UTZ program towards all stakeholders
  7. Supports Regional Representative East Africa in serving UTZ members in the region and neighboring countries
