Job Summary

EducationAdvanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, law, economics or a related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work ExperienceA minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible work experience in project or programme management, administration or a related area is required.Experience in international and multilateral relations is required.Experience in environment and/or sustainable development is desirable.Experience within the United Nations common system is desirable.
LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of French is an advantage.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities
• Provides support to the Chief of Staff and the Senior Adviser to the Executive Director in the discharge of their responsibilities by liaising between the Office and other entities and managing the flow of information between the Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director, UNEP Division Directors, Regional Directors, Heads of MEA Secretariats and other Managers;
• Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned programmes/projects, etc.; monitors and analyzes programme/project development and implementation; reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and proposes corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; identifies and tracks follow-up actions;
•Researches, analyzes and presents information gathered from diverse sources;
•Assists in policy development, including the review and analysis of issues and trends, preparation of evaluations or other research activities and studies;
•Prepares various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications;
•Provides substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations;

Required education: Post-graduate education
Required relevant work experience: 5 years
Required languages: English (Spoken: fluent | Written: fluent)
