The Programme Policy Officer (Zero Food Loss Training Manager) will report to the Head - Global Post Harvest Knowledge & Operations Centre (KNOC) and will act asFocal Point for post-harvest smallholder farmer training / private sector supply chain to assist countries with initial rollout of Zero Food Loss Initiative, and to track both WFP and RBA global progress towards reduced post-harvest loss.
To meet the demand from Countries around the world for Post-Harvest loss reduction expertise, and lead the operational coordination of post-harvest support to countries around the world, the WFP Global Post-Harvest Knowledge Operations Centre will recruit a Programme Policy Officer (Zero Food Loss Training Manager). Her/his role will be two-fold: to coordinate the operational activities to support other countries, and to work with the Global Head of the Post-Harvest Centre to ensure WFP’s training offerings to smallholder farmers continue to evolve and improve.
Responsibilities
Coordinate, at a global level, resources for country offices who request support for post-harvest loss reduction activities. These may include planning & programme design, M&E, fundraising, staffing design, training, finance, engineering, communication, project management & monitoring, private sector links, IT aspects, and government relations.
At global level, be the lead expert for post-harvest loss reduction training: development of pedagogy, farmer manuals, train-the-trainer techniques, facilitator guides, and assessment/evaluation forms; for all areas, strive for quality and consistency in material and method
At global level, be the lead expert for post-harvest loss reduction monitoring: establish continually refine, and share best techniques for overall project monitoring
Maintain close collaboration with the Rome-based agencies (RBA) Food Waste and Food Loss Project, with a specific focus on sharing knowledge with the Community of Practice, in particular for WFP’s involvement in DRC, Burkina Faso and Uganda
Explore/create, develop, pilot and evaluate potential alternative methods for mass training/awareness building in coordination with the WFP Post-harvest KNOC Communications Officer
Explore/create, develop, pilot & evaluate alternative methods for digital training/awareness building
Explore and action opportunities to leverage and integrate post-harvest training into the myriad other training materials that WFP has and is developing for smallholder farmers, with the objective of having a standardized set of smallholder farmer trainings, with a specific focus on gender and nutrition
Collaborate with the WFP Post-Harvest KNOC M&E Officer to ensure that evaluation of training effectiveness is incorporated into M&E frameworks for all post-harvest implementations
Manage the ‘sharing’ training knowledge module of the Global Post-Harvest Centre internal website
