Job Summary

Our client is looking for a Project Coordinator for the Strategic Alliance “Biomedical Engineers in Sub-Sahara Africa” in Kenya.
The project coordinator is responsible for:

• Coordinating all activities of the STA in Kenya
• Coordinating jointly with partner companies their engagement in Kenya
• Coordinating the missions and contributions of Fachhochschule Aachen in Kenya
• Planning and implementing proactively activities towards annual milestones
• Establishing knowledge base and professional network
• Making himself familiar with the strategies of GIZ, Donor’s committees, other Donors and private players in the field
• Making sure that activities are implemented in line with best practices of the professional field and with best practices in the development cooperation


1. Communication and Networking

The project coordinator:
 Develops and maintains contacts with all relevant stakeholders
 Represents the STA at the national level and acts as its speaker
 Acts as liaison to and cooperates with other GIZ projects in Kenya and with the STA in Senegal
 Collects and circulates relevant information, disseminates project experiences, and develops a database on project related information
 Observes communication and interaction between government institutions, non-government organisations, and the local community through press evaluation, direct dialogs, participation in forums, seminars, etc.
 Ensures communication and public relations
2. Development Planning
The project coordinator
 Facilitates the process of investigation of the needs of government, private sector, and non-governmental institutions
 Takes part in the formulation of project action plans and facilitates synchronisation between the planning and budgeting system
 Actualises and coordinates the planning continuously together with counterparts
 Is responsible for the preparation, execution and documentation of training, workshops, forums, meetings, and other project activities together with the partner institutions
3. Management and Coordination
The project coordinator:
 Coordinates, supervises and contributes to the preparation and implementation of project activities and carries out other activities necessary for the implementation of this component
 Monitors and evaluates the achievement of related project indicators
 Coordinates assigned national and international consultants
4. General Duties
The project coordinator:
 Provides support in organisational and management questions
 Consults routinely with the develoPPP.de project manager in Germany regarding all kinds of programme activities
 Assists in and/or carries out other programme activities and any other tasks as assigned
 Undertakes further job training related to his/her position and duties, if required. Specific training needs shall be identified and appropriate programmes selected jointly with the GIZ Team Leader.
