Job Summary

Education:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as agriculture, trade, economics, business, international development or a closely related field is required. A Master’s or PhD in these fields is advantageous.
Prior Work Experience: --Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible, professional-level experience in a trade related work including policy, customs, transport/logistics and trade promotion is required. --The experience must have provided the opportunity for development of trade policy reform and promotion, regional trade integration and trade program design and implementation work. --At least two years of this experience should have been in development-related trade work for USAID, other donor agencies, GoU organizations, or private-sector institutions which included trade project design, trade performance monitoring, and/or the analysis and interpretation of trade data and trends

Responsibilities

--Strong knowledge of the GoU developmental agenda, developmental initiatives, and development priorities for trade and export promotion and related areas, as well as the socio-political cultural understanding in various geographical regions of Uganda are required.
--A thorough knowledge of issues relating to economic and trade development in Uganda and the region, and Ugandan and regional strengths and vulnerabilities related to trade are required.
--In-depth and expert knowledge of a broad range of issues on trade policy and trade capacity building, as well as knowledge of private-sector development and competitiveness.
--Knowledge of trade sector issues in Uganda and the region is required.
--Knowledge of strategies, programs, and the working methodologies of other donor agencies in the trade sector in Uganda is required.
