Job Summary

UNATU is a statutory representative organization for the teachers formed; to promote and protect their rights and obligations fro improved working and living conditions. UNATU in partnership with FAWEU, AVSI, LHGIE and OXFAM in Uganda is implementing a four year project funded by the European Union: to improve the situation of learners in both in-formal and formal education systems and to strengthen the whole education system.

Responsibilities

The Project Officer will work as a link between the field and the UNATU Secretariat by:

  1. Drawing up plans of operation for implementation including any institutional arrangements for budgets
  2. Closely monitor the implementation of projects under the geographical area of responsibility and ensure adherence to provisions under the agreements signed with the implementing partners
  3.  Remit monthly reports on the implementation of activities in accordance with the agreed guidelines
  4. Act as a first point of contact for UNHCR Technical Advisors, consultants and visitors
  5. Maintain good working relations with the local government, implementing partners and other local agencies in the area
