Job Summary

Apollo Agriculture uses satellite data, machine learning, and mobile phones to help smallholder farmers maximize their profits. Today, African smallholders produce ~650 kg maize per acre on average; less than 20% of U.S. farmers. Apollo aims to change that and reach 1M+ customers within 5 years.
We are a team of software engineers, data scientists, economists, and operators with deep experience from The Climate Corporation, One Acre Fund, Uber, and ACRE. A Regional Manager is a senior Apollo representative in the field. He/she is a field veteran with years of experience on the ground. He/she will be based in the field and his/her work will include performance management, recruiting, training, establishing local partnerships and ultimately working to drive strong brand awareness for Apollo in their regions leading to farmers signing up for our products.
Qualifications / Ideal Candidate
  • College / university degree
  • More than 4 years of work experience in field facing roles
  • Proficient in English and the local language in the region where he/she is applying from
  • Knowledge of the local geography where he/she is applying from
  • Proficient in online technology/task management tools such as Google Suite applications
  • Leadership experience with great people skills


Recruiting & Training
You will be responsible for maintaining a well-trained workforce of Field Marketing Officers (FMOs) and a ready pool of interested applicants. Your job will entail constant search of talent (always be recruiting), and engaging and hiring them when a position opens up in the field organization in line with the approved hiring plan.
Performance Management
You will lead the process of setting a regional target (broken down to the ward level) which will be achieved through Field Marketing Officers under your management. Your job is to support and enable your reports to hit all of their targets. Performance management includes coaching, offering tips, solving field related problems raised by FMOs and being the key liaison between the field and the office.
Marketing & Brand
You will own and manage Apollo’s brand on the ground, having a clear understanding of Apollo’s end-users. You will collect and communicate data to the office to support the extraction of customer insights, informing brand position and brand awareness on the ground. You will monitor and manage all brand awareness and customer acquisition channels used by Apollo in the field, keeping an eye on ways to enhance awareness and lead generation. You will also support experimentation with new channels for higher conversion and lower acquisition costs.
You will be the key liaison and brand representative of Apollo at the regional level. Your duty will be to establish and nurture mutually beneficial partnerships in the field. Additionally, you will be responsible for representing Apollo Agriculture in high-level meetings both at the county level and at the location level (important county-level meetings).
