Job Summary

For appointment to this grade, an officer must:-
i. Have at least ten (10) years proven experience in engineering field;
ii. Have at least an undergraduate degree in engineering from a recognised institution; a Masters degree will be an added advantage;
iii. Be registered Professional engineer with the Board holding a valid practicing license;
iv. Have knowledge and experience in policy formulation, management and procedures of the Government;
v. Have knowledge in, or has actively contributed to the promotion of engineering development agenda;
vi. Demonstrated results in work performance;
vii. Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

For consideration to the position, the candidate must demonstrate that they have:

vii. Negotiation skills.


i. Maintain the Register of persons registered inaccordance with Engineers Act, 2011;
ii. Sign, issue, renew and cancel certificates of registration and licences as may be directed by the Board;
iii. Keep all documents and records including recordsof all assets of the Board;
iv. Prepare all documents due for gazettement as directed by the Board;
v. Take and keep minutes of the Board meetings;
vi. Enforce decisions of the Board;
vii. Keep the seal of the Board in such custody as the Board may direct;
viii. In consultation with the Board, be responsible for the direction of the affairs and transactions of the Board, the exercise,discharge and performance of its objectives, functions and duties;
ix. Ensure the maintenance of efficiency and disciplineby all staff of the Board;
x. Manage the budget of the Board to ensure that itsfunds are properly expended and accounted for;
xi. Exercise leadership and managerial oversight ofthe Boards core mandate and functions;
xii. Provide general oversight of all EBK activities,manages the day-to-day operations, and smooth functioning and efficiency withinthe organization;
xiii. Provide leadership in the development of the Boards programs and assures quality program and organizational stability through development and implementation of standards and controls, systems and procedures, regular evaluation and performance management system;
xiv. Provide strategic policy direction for improved service in engineeringpractice in the Country;
xv. Develop and oversee efficient and effective strategies for recruitment, selection retention and evaluation of staff;
xvi. Provide guidance to the Board and the management in the development and implementation of the best practice in Corporate Governance;
xvii. Provide leadership in engineering learning, services designed toinform public policy, promotion of national development and high standards ofcompetence;
xviii. Maintain effective collaboration and partnerships with organs of Government and Government agencies, county Governments, international organizations,private sector , non-governmental organization and other Stakeholders
xix. Promote values and principles as spelt out in Articles 232 of the Constitution of Kenya in the operations of the Board;
xx. Lead, oversee and ensure the implementation of applicable engineering standards in Kenya;
xxi. Develop and implement an effective performance management system;
xxii. Exercise and perform any other functions which the Board may determine from time to time.

Required education: Bachelor's degree
Required relevant work experience: 3 years
Required languages: English (Spoken: fluent | Written: fluent)
