The ESHE family planning project is supported by DFID and managed by Palladium. The project goal is increased use of FP among women of reproductive age including adolescent girls, and the expected outcomes are greater access to more FP choice, including for the poorest Kenyans, underpinned by four programs outputs:
Output 1: Increased access, choice and quality of FP
Output 2: Increased awareness for FP and reduction of socio-cultural barriers
Output 3: Greater involvement and sustainability of the private sector
Output 4: Total Market Approach (TMA) for FP effectively planned, coordinated and supported
ESHE works closely with the Kenyan Ministry of Health and key donors to support a more balanced FP market so that all women and girls can access and use FP more sustainable
Prepare and submit an inception report and work plan: Following an inception meeting, develop an inception report describing the consultants understanding of the assignment, the proposed methodology and approach for its implementation, and a work plan illustrating the expected timelines for completion of specific tasks .Conduct a desk review of existing analyses, surveys, studies, data, and other documents related to the assignment.
Develop a research protocol for the study: The research protocol should outline the methodology and approach to be used for the study, the data collection process, any ethical considerations.
Develop data collection tools for the stakeholder interviews and the client interviews

Commercial actors data collection tools (wholesalers, pharmacy retail outlets, clinics)Carryout a qualitative assessment through key informant interviews
Interviews with key ESHE staff and key actors within the pharmaceutical supply chain such as wholesalers and retailers (pharmacies and clinics), including tracking the movement of the product from the national distributor – Surgipharm, to the end of the distribution chain. This analysis should include information on which commercial outlets are buying/stoking the product, their motivations for doing so, and any challenges they may be encountering while selling the product, Interviews with Sayana Press users/clients to understand where they source the product from, how they learned about it, their motivation for using Sayana Press, and their experience with the product so far.
Triangulate the information from the qualitative assessment with the desk review to determine the key/potential drivers of Sayana Press uptake.
Develop and submit a detailed report based on the analysis
Write and submit final report in two formats; a brief 2-page report in infographic format and a detailed report.
Develop and present to ESHE a PowerPoint summary of key information from the research
From the engagement with Private providers and clients, write 2 case studies (one from a provider perspective and the other from client/user) that highlight how Sayana press has effected/impacted their lives.
