Job Summary

Applications are invited from suitably qualified, serving Public Officers in Ministries/Departments/Agencies and Local Governments to fill vacant posts


Responsibilities

  1. Participating in the implementation of National Food and Nutrition policies and plans;
  2. Participating in preparation of Crop Production Department quarterly and annual Work Plans;
  3. Implementing food-based strategies and plans for increasing availability and accessibility of nutritious food crops, which promote human nutrition;
  4. Participating in the development and provision of capacity building programs on nutrition for Local Governments, NGOs, and other stakeholders;
  5. Guiding the implementation of LGs Food and Nutrition Action Plans;
  6. Developing and conducting LGs training programmes on nutrition;
  7. Participating in establishment of food and nutritional surveillance system to provide timely information to stabilize food and nutritional situation;
  8. Promoting development of small scale/cottage food processing activities;
  9. Promoting primary crop processing technologies at all levels;
  10. Promoting integration of proper nutrition in schools and youth programmes including school gardening;
  11. Participating in events to commemorate World Food Day and Agricultural Shows among others.
  12. Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

The Public Service Commission (Uganda)

The Public Service Commission is established under the provisions of Article 165(1) of the 1995 Constitution. In fulfillment of its functions under Article 166, the Commission is required to make a report to Parliament in respect of each year’s performance of its functions. Under Article 166 (4) of the same Constitution, Parliament is required by law to empower the Public Service Commission to make regulations for the effective and efficient performance of its functions. This is in addition to the provisions of Article 251 (1) which empowers the Commission to regulate its own procedure or confer powers or impose duties on any officer or authority of the Government for the purpose of discharging its functions. In light of the above, a draft Public Service Commission Bill has been prepared and submitted to the Cabinet for approval. Currently the Public Service Commission Regulations guide the Commission in the carrying out of its functions in addition to other relevant regulations such as the Standing Orders, Establishment Notices and Circulars that guide the management of the Public Service in general.
